Riga City Municipality represented at Hamburg Sustainability Conference

On June 29–30, 2026, the third Hamburg Sustainability Conference took place under the theme “The Power of Cooperation: Driving Progress Together.” The conference brought together around 1,600 high-level representatives from politics, business, academia, and civil society from 115 countries.

Across more than 80 sessions and side events, participants collaborated on innovative solutions and forged new partnerships to address the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges.

The Riga City Municipality was represented by Diāna Korbe, Head of the Geomatics Division at the Riga City Development Department. She participated in the panel discussion “From Pilots to Platforms: Scaling Collaborative Urban Intelligence,” where experts explored topics such as scaling urban innovation, strengthening data-driven collaboration, and developing digital solutions that support more sustainable and resilient cities.

Diāna Korbe notes that, ”It is crucial to discuss and share practical examples of how various cities have implemented modern IT solutions to improve their operations – a process that has not always been quick or easy. Furthermore, when deciding which solution to choose, it is valuable to understand the factors that ensure successful modernization, help avoid unforeseen costs, and mitigate various risks. In fact, our discussions revealed that, regardless of where we live in the world, the challenges faced by those driving digitalization and implementing innovations are remarkably similar. If we listen to one another, learn from mistakes, and share our successes, the specific technology chosen becomes less important. Ultimately, the key factor for success is people and their ability to tackle problems with persistence and creativity.”
