The Cycle4Climate project promotes the reduction of CO₂ emissions from urban transport by providing mobility planning experts with the knowledge and tools to implement effective and practical measures. In Riga, where emissions from motor vehicles significantly affect the city’s climate, practical solutions are needed to change resident travel habits. The project will provide evidence-based insights into the most effective ways to encourage residents to use bicycles for their daily commutes.
Target of the Project
To promote sustainable mobility solutions by reducing CO₂ emissions and implementing measures that encourage residents to change their travel habits, popularizing cycling as an eco-friendly mode of transport.

Project Activities
✔ Two social surveys will be conducted at the beginning and end of the project to understand residents’ travel habits and attitudes towards cycling;
✔ In the initial phase, two bicycle and two car counters will be installed along the “Centrs–Torņakalns–Ziepniekkalns” cycling route to collect data on transport flows;
✔ Based on data analysis and survey results, cycling infrastructure improvements will be planned and implemented in the Torņakalns area;
✔ Three social campaigns will be organized to inform residents about the benefits of cycling and motivate them to choose more eco-friendly transport options.
Testbed Territory in Riga
Project activities in Riga will be implemented in the Torņakalns and Ziepniekkalns neighborhoods. These areas will be the focus for data collection on residents’ travel habits, infrastructure improvements, and information campaigns.
