Digital Transformation for the Management of Wheelchair Lift Fleet in Riga City Municipality
Status: Realized projects

The project developed and implemented a digital and automation solution for managing the maintenance operations of Riga’s municipal wheelchair lift fleet. The system provides a unified data environment and standardized workflows. The new application enables municipal employees and maintenance service providers to submit, receive, and process service and repair requests more efficiently, while also offering clear and accessible analytics on the entire lift fleet.
The Significance of the Project for Riga
In 2023, the pilot project “Implementation of an IoT Monitoring System for Wheelchair Lifts in Riga City Municipality” introduced smart monitoring for lift operation. This new project represents the next step toward full digital transformation.
Previously, the maintenance of wheelchair lifts was managed manually through multiple separate Excel sheets, emails, and phone calls — a time-consuming process that limited data accessibility. There was no unified system containing information about each lift’s life cycle, repairs, costs, or user changes. The lack of automation hindered consistent and high-quality service delivery and made data analysis difficult.
Target of the Project
To develop and implement a digital solution that ensures transparency in managing the wheelchair lift fleet’s maintenance activities through centralized data, automated workflows, and advanced analytics capabilities.
