Implementation of Artificial Intelligence Solutions for Process Improvement – Autonomous Drone System for Rescue Operations
Status: Realized projects

The project equips the Vecāķi Rescue Station with an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of autonomous patrol and rescue missions along the coastline and swimming areas. The solution enhances the efficiency and safety of rescue teams, enabling faster response times and more effective lifesaving operations.
The Significance of the Project for Riga
Riga operates several official swimming areas where incidents often occur — people crossing safety buoys or being carried out to sea by strong currents. Due to limited staff, rescuers cannot always pilot drones continuously, especially when they must provide first aid or assist with missing persons. The introduction of an automated AI drone helps ensure constant area surveillance and timely response to emergencies, significantly increasing safety for residents and visitors.
Target of the Project
The project aims to enhance the capacity and responsiveness of the Riga City Municipal Police Rescue Service by introducing an automated AI-powered UAV system. The goal is to strengthen operational efficiency, ensure continuous monitoring of coastal areas, and improve overall beach safety.
Benefits for Residents
✔ Safer recreation and swimming conditions at Vecāķi Beach
✔ Faster assistance and response in emergency situations
✔ Continuous and precise monitoring of the coastal area
Project Activities
✔ Procurement and installation of the automated drone and charging station
